  • What about copyright and ownership?
Artists offering music which they do not have the permission or ownership of will be prosecuted and shunned. Please report any media being misrepresented immediately.
  • Is crunkbox genre specific?
Nah we love everyone who is good the same.
  • Then why do you have a hip-hop website name?
Probably cause we are from the South and Hip-Hop is all around us. It is a huge part of the DIY/indy movement and we like how it sticks in the craws of the overly sophisticated. Also, the word - CRUNKBOX - definitely and succintly describes this website.
  • Why does Crunkbox charge a monthly fee?
Currently crunkbox is invitation only - no fees.
  • I am affiliated with crunkbox or have another good reason for free membership.
Is that so? Email our resident hard-ass here: Site Admin.
  • What is the AGENTS section - how do artists benefit?
    Section currently disabled..
  • Are crunkbox agents licensed?
As soon as agents come in we put them on the path to becoming licensed at the National level. They can benefit greatly from the resources and contacts being licensed opens up. Those benefits make the agent more valuable to the client artists.
  • What is the VENUE section - how do artists benefit?
The Venue section is cool. It allows you to look up venues that host open mics or take solicitations. Friendly venues get full blown profiles built out. Search for venues in your area or visiting areas. This option is open to all however the contact and booking information we scoped out is only viewable to Crunkbox members.
  • What does the NEWS option do - how do artists benefit?
Our news section is a full featured news publishing CMS. We bring independent journalists and photographers together to scoop bands coming up in the industry. This includes both crunkbox bands and other just working musicians.
  • Why hasn't my band been reviewed in the news section?
Contact us and let's put something together.
  • How do I sell stuff with the Vault system?
You can use the Vault link in your control panel to sell MP3's, Videos, PDF files, zips - basically any kind of digital files. Simply upload your files with a description and a price and they will appear in your store for sale, you will be notified each time an item is purchased.
  • When do I get paid for my digital sales?
Each time your sales account reaches $50 this amount is transferred to your Paypal account.
  • Why is there a minimum sales price and a 5% charge?
That percentage goes to paypal. We provide 100% of digital downloads to the artist.
  • What's the difference between the Store and the Vault system?
The store allows you to sell physical items such as CD's and merchandise and also allows you to charge for postage and packaging. At this time all transactions made using this e-store are the responsibility of the artist. All payments go directly to the artists' paypal payout email address.
  • What music, video and images can I upload or embed?
We currently support HiFi MP3 (64kbps-256kbps), Video formats are: .wmv .mov .mpg and/or embedded video at a maximum size of W:425xH:350, images are supported in .gif, .jpeg and .png
  • What about media which may contain offensive or explicit material?
As long as it's obviously promo stuff for your band, anything goes. If someday we encounter an issue with our members uploading tons of porn for some reason we will start clearing that stuff off without warning.
  • Which facilities are currently available to members?
For a current list of services available to members please see the our member pages here. Or contact one of our dashing client services people here: artists-cs@crunkbox.com
  • How do I embed video and images from other sites?
You can embed video and images into basically anything (i.e. blogs) by using the HTML button. Also in the video section there is a field called 'Video Embed'. Paste the url to your movie from the embed code. Copying and pasting from the address bar alone won't work. Actually grab the address out of the embed code found at sites like youtube.
